classic big lifts — squat, bench, press, and deadlift —
complemented by conditioning support exercises.
We keep it chill, breaking it down into easy 6-8 week phases

real results. It's all about keeping it simple and getting stronger,
no frills needed!
It's not too late to book. Bootcamp is always our most popular session, our Spring Bootcamp is designed to help you break out of the Armidale winter and kickstart your fitness journey with energy and enthusiasm. Expect everything you imagine in a bootcamp: running, burpees, pushups, squat jumps, and crawls, all paired with fun partner work and a lot of laughter. It’s the perfect way to shake off the winter blues, get your body moving, and reconnect with your fitness goals. And of course, no bootcamp is complete without a well-deserved coffee afterward! Our combined Breath and Meditation class is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where you can explore the profound impact of breathwork and meditation on your mind and body. We begin with journaling to help clear your thoughts and set intentions, followed by 2-3 mini breath exercises that allow you to connect with your breath and reset your nervous system. AFA is led by the inspiring Ali Flynn, one of Armidale’s most respected Personal Trainers, and backed by a team of knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Our class sizes are capped, guaranteeing personal attention and technique guidance for every person. It’s not a ‘one size fits all’ approach- we take the time to get to know you personally and to understand your fitness goals so that we can help you achieve them. We understand the role that psychology plays in your success and we help you to transform your thinking from training because you have to, to training because you want to. Our incredible staff want to see you fly and take the time to teach you correct technique so that you can confidently walk into any gym. We love nothing more than a client telling us they don’t need us anymore.
Depending on your Private Health Insurance provider and policy, you may be eligible for a rebate on your fees. It is important to remember that all health funds are different and offer different services - you will need to check with your service provider whether you are entitled to any rebates. In some cases an invoice or receipt of payment may be needed and this can be obtained by contacting the team via [email protected]. Sometimes, a GP referral may be required to indicate that the fitness program is necessary due to an existing health or medical condition.
Don’t worry! Lots of our clients have had a break from fitness or have never trained before and this is one of the benefits of booking in with us. We pride ourselves on catering for all levels through each exercise and creating a supportive and friendly environment for people to feel accepted and not judged. We also offer beginner classes and Movement Labs that can help to guide you through technique and individual exercises in order to help you progress to other classes when you feel ready and confident.
Dress in something comfortable. Most people wear shorts, 3/4 pants or long trackies and a comfortable top that covers the back of your pants. You will also need a pair of sand shoes and can talk to anyone on the team about where to go if you don’t currently have a pair. A water bottle, towel and jumper will also help you to get the most out of your sessions.
Yes! Our staff are trained in both pre and post-natal training and can safely and effectively guide you through your workouts.

Yes, you need to book a class in advance. You can do this through our booking system, which you will receive via email. This ensures that we can manage class sizes effectively and provide the best experience for everyone. Please check your email for the booking link and follow the instructions to reserve your spot in the class.
We understand the importance of accountability and the social component of fitness. At AFA we encourage you to bring a friend, housemate, work colleague or partner to increase your long term success rate. It is a well-researched fact that you are much more likely to attend fitness if you are accountable to someone outside of yourself.
Great question! Ali Flynn is the founder of both AFA and Soul Studio, and they are located on the same premises. While most of our clients enjoy dual membership, accessing unlimited classes across both, you can choose to join either Soul Studio or AFA individually.
Here's how we differentiate the two:
Soul Studio: Focuses on restoring, recovering, nourishing, and mindset. It's dedicated to mind, body, and soul, offering classes such as yoga, Pilates, meditation, breathwork, trigger and release sessions, and swimming. It's the perfect place to relax, re-connect and recharge.
AFA (Altitude Fitness Armidale): Concentrates on fitness and mindset. It is all about getting fitter, faster and stronger. Here, you can engage in cardio workouts, weight training, boxing, cycling, running, and more.
Both facilities complement each other, providing a wholistic approach to health and wellness. Whether you're looking to enhance your physical fitness or seek a peaceful environment to relax and rejuvenate, we have something for everyone.
Absolutely! Not only do we help you to set goals but we keep track of your progression towards achieving them. You will have the option of taking part in regular fitness testing to monitor your progress.
No, we no longer offer personal training services. Previously, we had a two-year waiting list, so we've shifted to a model that allows us to train together in a supportive community of like-minded individuals. This approach helps everyone thrive as a group
